Synchronize's workgroup features include the ability to schedule meetings and resources, distribute agendas and memos, assign and track tasks, and send out reminders. Synchronize offers each user individual and group Calendar Views, Popup Notes, and automatically updated To-Do Lists. Other key features include user environment customization capability, system-wide resource management and hierarchical permissions. Support for PostScript printing, palmtops and portable computers enable users to take their schedules wherever they go.
The client/server design of Synchronize supports distributed databases capable of serving a large number of users both locally and in geographically separate locations. Synchronize users can assign databases to functional divisions within an organization (e.g., Marketing, Engineering, Operations) as well as across geographic divisions (e.g., U.S., Europe, Asia) so that the operation of Synchronize most naturally reflects the day-to-day operations within the business enterprise.
Because Synchronize communicates directly across TCP/IP, information access is instant with none of the latency associated with file-based access methods or with slower transports. This design, with multiple time zone support, allows schedules, tasks and resources to be transparently and instantly managed within the same building, the same city, across the continent or around the world.
